  • Bravd doesn't understand how a man with gold could consider himself poor, but Rincewind speculates that gold has its own type of magic: echo-gnomics.
  • The sun rises over Ankh-Morpork. Weasel knows there's gold down there to be had, and he asks Rincewind what they'll do now.
  • The wizard imagines him and his tourist will take the coast road, and he tries to convince the Weasel he didn't make it up.
  • The Weasel doesn't buy it as he and Bravd mount their horses for the city below.
