The Color of Magic The Color of Magic / Chapter 14 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Rincewind bounds down the alley until he hits a dead end between a high wall and the river; panic and fear bid the forbidden spell to take shape in his mind.
  • He utters the first syllable. Then around the corner, Luggage comes sprinting at him full on. It's draped by an ornamental rug and is dragging a bit of literal dead weight in the form of a thief's body.
  • The wizard tells the chest to shoo, but it doesn't move. Rincewind wonders if the thing has adopted him as its new master and then imagines the life he can live with the riches tucked inside.
  • He offers a moment's sadness for Twoflower's fate before heading out.
  • But Rincewind can't move—Luggage has bitten hold of his robe and refuses to budge.
