Character Analysis
Tertius is the third son of the 81st Lord of Stormhold (try saying that ten times fast). Here's how he looks at their father's deathbed: "His beard red-and-golden, his eyes a tawny brown, looked wary" (3.12). He doesn't have any trouble getting the inn's maid Letitia into his bed, but then he lets his guard down and accepts wine from her, which turns out to have been planted by Septimus. Too bad his wariness didn't keep him alive.
