  • Nightline does a second story on Morrie. The camera team comes over and everyone is more comfortable with one another than the first time; Koppel and Morrie swap stories and chat before they go on air.
  • Once they start, Koppel asks Morrie how he knows when things are "going downhill" (11.6).
  • Morrie shares that he feels saddest about losing the range of motion in his hands and his voice.
  • Then they talk about how people can communicate without language, through being silent.
  • At the end of the show, Morrie reads a letter that he got from a schoolteacher who taught a classroom full of kids, each of whom had lost a parent.
  • Morrie chokes up on camera and says that he lost his own mother when he was a kid; even though it was a long time ago, the memory is still painful to him.
