How It All Goes Down
- Nick gets ready to go to his mom's club—when zombies attack.
- But this time, they're real zombies. Rotting. Stinky. Crusty old zombies.
- Our heroes fight off the zombies from inside the store, but when Madaug fires a rocket launcher (how did he learn how to do that?) and blows up the storefront, the inside of the store becomes the outside.
- Acheron and Kyrian conveniently show up to help evacuate our heroes from the store.
- Nick wants to rescue his mom, so they zip over to the club first to protect her.
- Nick's mom doesn't want to go with them, so Bubba shoots her with a tranquilizer dart and puts her into the SUV. Kids, don't shoot your mom with a tranq at home.
- Before reaching Kyrian's house, Bubba gets a call from Madaug's older brother. He tells them that his mother and little brother are missing.
- Madaug wants to go check it out.
- The cops are at Madaug's house, and the kitchen is torn up and bloody. Clearly, Mom wasn't just making pancakes.
- While everyone is hanging around Madaug's house, Nekoda shows up. Nick is happy to see her.
- Nick tells Kody it's dangerous out there, and she thinks it's sweet that he's trying to protect her. She kisses him on the cheek.
- Kody leaves, and Caleb warns Nick to stay away from her. "Girls ain't nothing but trouble" (14.262).
- But Nick loves trouble.
- "That girl is your death" (14.265), Caleb elaborates. That's a little extreme, don't you think?
- But then Nick has a vision of Kody driving a literal sword through his heart. Um, envisioning your date murdering you is a big red flag.
