Bring on the tough stuff. There’s not just one right answer.
- Given Gustave's Boy with Apple dilemma, what would you do? Is art only worth its monetary value? Would you be able to give up a memento of your deceased friend and lover?
- Why does Agatha have a very literally Mexico shaped birthmark on her face (seriously, we want to know)?
- Gustave. Love him or hate him? We're sure you were rooting for him the whole time, but do you think he's a good person? Someone we need more of in this world? Is his pretense and pretension too much?
- Is Grand Budapest a coming-of-age story? Do we see growth and development in Zero or is there simply too much comedy and action for this to be a truly character-driven film?
- What is the plausibility of an actual secret society of concierge's existing? What sort of artsy things might they have connections to (and how can we join… other than being a concierge, of course)?
- What role do moral principles play in Grand Budapest? Are there particular principles that are emphasized or represented as advantageous?
- Are Gustave's sexual interactions with elderly lady patrons a service or a disgrace? Gustave seems to have no shame about his behavior; do you think he should?
