Vicki Vale

Although Vale does a lot of screaming and gets dragged around by both Batman and Joker in the film's third act, she has a little more agency than your average female love interest in a Batman movie.

Were it not for Vicki Vale, we wouldn't know who Batman is. It's her work as an investigative journalist that uncovers his identity, and, in the world of the film, it's her decision to keep his identity a secret that allows Bruce's Batman to maintain his element of mystery and surprise.
