Case File: Orpheus vs. the Maenads

Case File: Orpheus vs. the Maenads

Police Reports

Case Description: Complainant (Orpheus) accuses defendants (the Maenads) of first degree murder. Orpheus claims that these female followers of Dionysus ripped him limb from limb because he had ceased to worship the god of wine and revelry. Evidence was found on the island of Lesbos, where Orpheus' head washed ashore.

Case Status: Case pending. Every investigator sent to question the Maenads ends up getting ripped apart as well, so nobody is really sure what to do about it. For more on the Maenad's dismembering ways, check out our files on Dionysus and Euripides' The Bacchae.
