Seeking the Light
Symbolism, Imagery, Allegory
Some folks have found symbolism in Orion's journey to the sun to regain his vision. We talk about this in our character analysis of Helios too, but isn't it kind of interesting that the sun restores somebody's vision in this story? You totally can't think about it too literally (a good rule of thumb with all mythology), because staring into the sun is actually pretty awful on your eyes.
However, if you think about this story point on a symbolic level it makes sense. The sun's light lifts the veil of darkness from Orion's eyes. You could kind of see Orion as representing all of humanity. We're all really flawed and blind to the larger truths of the universe, but we keep stumbling towards the light in an attempt to find real understanding of... well... everything. (That just got deep.)
