Character Role Analysis
Kevin McCallister
Kevin's the one who's home alone; he's the kid who needs to pull a Bear Grylls and survive on his own for a few days; he's the child warrior who abuses two burglars nearly to death.
As he says at one point, "This is my house. I have to defend it." Kevin's clearly the protagonist—no one else even comes close. Kevin's mom goes on a journey of her own, but it's pretty secondary and involves getting back to Kevin—it's tied into his story. And while she demonstrates how much she loves her son, Kevin is the one who really changes.
By no means a static character, he goes from being a helpless-seeming little kid to a potential future Navy SEAL.
