There's always a feeling in this poem that we aren't seeing what's actually real, that there's something blocking our vision. Here Poe tackles that idea head on, and lets us know that people from the waking world can only see a dim version of this place. This makes things even more complicated. Dream-Land is another version of reality, and we can only see a part of that, so this is more like a version of a version. This could get messy, so we won't take it too far, but we think it's important to see what a mind-bender this poem can be.
