Hawkeye/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner)’s Timeline and Summary
- Hawkeye is bumming a ride in the back of Black Widow's jeep. He's taking out Hydra soldiers with his trusty bow and arrow as she speeds toward Baron von Strucker's hide-out.
- After getting knocked off his feet by Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), Hawkeye takes a Hydra laser in the side. Ouch.
- After his buddies fly him back to base, Hawkeye gets some cutting-edge treatment from Dr. Helen Cho. His wound is repaired with a "nanomolecular" regeneration device.
- A freshly-healed Hawkeye helps to fend off an attack from Ultron and his Iron Legion buds when they bust into the Avengers' victory party totally uninvited.
- With the rest of the Avengers, Hawkeye chases Ultron to Africa, where he attacks the evil bot as he attempts to buy some precious vibranium from a sketchy arms dealer.
- Wanda Maximoff tries to put a curse on his mind, but Hawkeye is too quick for her. He zaps her with one of his own mind-melt arrows, but Quicksilver drop-kicks him and steals his twin sister Wanda away.
- After his other teammates get hexed and Hulk destroys Johannesburg, Hawkeye pilots the subdued superheroes back to a "safehouse" where they can lay low for a while: his idyllic family house, out in the quiet country.
- He introduces the Avengers to his wife Laura and their two kids.
- After the Avengers regroup and hatch a new plan of attack, Hawkeye kisses his wife good-bye, leaving her with a promise to refinish their sunroom when he gets back. What a guy.
- Hawkeye pilots the Avengers' Quinjet to Seoul, South Korea, where he spots Ultron escaping with his new android body in an eighteen-wheeler.
- He provides an eye in the sky, coordinating Captain America and Black Widow's efforts to stop Ultron as they chase the truck through the city. So, yeah—his name checks out.
- After two of Ultron's Iron Legion guardians blast the truck into the air, with the cradle and now Black Widow inside, Hawkeye maneuvers the Quinjet into position. Black Widow cuts the cradle loose and rides it through the air into the Quinjet's waiting cargo bay—bullseye.
- Back at Avenger's HQ, Hawkeye scans the airwaves for any sign of Black Widow, who was abducted by Ultron after delivering the cradle. He picks up her Morse code signal and locates her in Ultron's prison in Sokovia.
- When Captain America and the Maximoffs crash Tony Stark and Bruce Banner's science lab, Hawkeye is there to take out Pietro before Thor calls down the lightning and brings the android to life himself.
- After the group agrees to work with the next J.A.R.V.I.S. android, Hawkeye finds himself in Sokovia, picking off Ultron's Iron Legion bots with his bow and arrow.
- He pauses to give Wanda Maximoff a pep talk. She's freaking out by all the damage that she and her brother have caused, but Hawkeye reminds her that she has a job to do. If she decides to do it, then she'll be an Avenger. Dude's a real motivational speaker.
- After helping Wanda regain her hero vibe, Hawkeye shoots a bunch more bots and then meets up with his Avenger teammates by the vibranium core. He helps them fend off a furious attack from the robo-rascals, as they try to activate the core and send floating Sokovia crashing back down to Earth.
- Hawkeye's just about to join the other Sokovian evacuees on an air boat, but then he sees a little boy who's trapped under some rubble.
- He runs to scoop the kid up and bring him back to the boat, but Ultron has other plans. From a stolen fighter jet, Ultron fires on Hawkeye and the boy. Hawkeye shields the boy with his body (he is a hero, after all), but Pietro Maximoff in turn saves Hawkeye. Pietro uses his super-speed to shove a car in front of Hawkeye, but unfortunately he takes a bullet—or twenty—in the process.
- Pietro dies, and Hawkeye lays down next to his body on the air boat, fully bummed.
- The next time we see him, Hawkeye is walking through the door of his family house in the country.
- He gives his wife a big hug, home at last.
