Famous Athletes
Alan Webb. Webb, who ran for the University of Michigan, holds the American record for fastest mile (under four minutes). Hopefully, we never have to run away from a bear with this guy.
Kenenisa Bekele. An Ethiopian national, Bekele holds the Olympic and world records in both the 5,000-meter and the 10,000-meter. Go ahead, try to keep pace.
Dathan Ritzenhein. The man is a three-time winner at the USA Cross-Country Championships. He was also a national champion at the University of Colorado.

Chris Derrick. Derrick accumulated fourteen All-American honors during his time at Stanford University.
Lynn Jennings. Jennings dominated the cross-country world during the 1990s, winning the USA Cross-Country Championships nine times and the IAAF World Cross-Country Championships three consecutive times. She also won an Olympic medal in the 10,000-meter. Nope, not an over-achiever at all.
Tirunesh Dibaba. Nicknamed the "Baby-Faced Destroyer," this Ethiopian national holds the world record in the outdoor 5,000-meter. She's also an Olympic and world champion in the 10,000-meter. You go, girl.
Shalane Flanagan. A national champion at the University of North Carolina, Flanagan is a six-time gold medalist at the USA Cross-Country Championships. She is also the second American woman to win an Olympic medal in the 10,000-meter.
Deena Drossin. This eight-time NCAA All-American champion at University of Arkansas also won a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympics for the women's marathon. A marathon? Gee, that sounds like a lot of running to us. Is it dinnertime yet?
