Glory
Remember that scene in The Hunger Games when Katniss and Peeta ride in on a flaming chariot? Being an umpire feels a little like that. True, you don't have a flaming chariot. Or a flaming car. Or even a scooter covered in glow sticks. But that's no reason you can't feel like you're riding a flaming chariot every time you take to the field.
Even if no one knows your name, there's still a lot of glory to be had as an umpire if you care about baseball. If you don't care about baseball, then, well, why are you here?

Think about all those awesome hand motions umpires do. Calling (or in some cases, punching) a third strike to end the inning is probably one of the most glorious moments in sports, even more than football's arm-raising "touchdown."
