Odds of Getting In

Technically, there isn't a lot stopping you from becoming a potter. Startup costs are relatively low, between $2,000 and $10,000 (source), and nobody's going to physically restrain you from making a vase.
To really get into the career, though, you'll also need a unique, inventive business idea. With more than 32,000 potters in the U.S. (source), not to mention a bunch of retail giants like Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel, the competition is stiff. Good thing you're the creative type, huh?
