John F. Kennedy was elected president of the United States on this day in 1960. Did you know he was also one heck of a writer? He penned his first book, Why England Slept, at 22 and co-authored the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection of biographies Profiles in Courage in 1957. The James Bond fanboy even knocked out his own Bond-style spy thriller about a government takeover spearheaded by Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson (who, if you ask us, is no Sean Connery).
