dec 13 Learn More Saddam Hussein Captured
Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was captured on this day in 2003 after nine months on the run. Hussein was convicted of a lengthy list of crimes against humanity. He was also one of only a handful of people to receive a key to the city of Detroit. Father Christmas and Elmo—as in the Muppet from Sesame Street—are also Detroit keyholders, but Hussein got his in 1980 for donating a bunch of money to a local church.
