Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth was born on this day in 1983. He's best known for playing Thor, the god of thunder, in the Marvel cinematic universe. Marvel's super-heroic Thor is based on the Norse mythological god who wields a magical hammer named Mjölnir, loves a good oak tree, and gave us Thursday. That's right: Thursday gets its name from the Old English "Thor's Day." Now, we're not encouraging you to carry around a big hammer as a fashion choice, but if you've got your heart set on it, Thursday's a good day to make it work.
