- The scene fades out, and we see the same sunrise/sunset sky with a tree and house silhouetted against it as we saw at the beginning.
- The same simple tune is playing.
- A man walks over to the tree.
- We presume this is Munny "talking" to his dead wife.
- A message appears on the screen saying Mrs. Ansonia Feathers (Claudia's mother) finally visited her dead daughter's grave.
- Will Munny and his children had long since left by that point, "some said to San Francisco where it was rumored he prospered in dry goods."
- The last bit of the messages says that, "there was nothing on the marker to explain to Mrs. Feathers why her only daughter had married a known thief and murderer, a man of notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition."
- The music continues to play as the credits start to roll, the same house and tree in the background.
