Little Bill Daggett (Gene Hackman)’s Timeline and Summary
- Little Bill arrives at the brothel and fines two men, one of whom has just assaulted Delilah.
- While working on his house, Skinny tells him that the women of the brothel are offering a substantial sum of money to anybody who kills the two cowboys.
- Shortly after English Bob's arrival in Big Whisky, Little Bill confronts him. He takes Bob's weapons before beating him badly in front of the entire town.
- In the sheriff's office, Bill has a conversation with Beauchamp in which he discredits the stories in The Duke of Death. Beauchamp can't believe it.
- Bill teaches Beauchamp a little bit about gun fighting. In a gesture to show that he is in complete control, he orders Beauchamp to point the gun at him (Bill), and then to give the gun to English Bob (he declines it).
- Bill sends Bob off in handcuffs (the driver of the coach is ordered to remove them once they're out of the county) and says if he sees him again he'll shoot him.
- While Bill is telling Beauchamp more stories at his house, a deputy comes to tell him that armed men have arrived.
- Bill heads over to Greely's (Skinny's place) and confronts Will. After disarming him, he beats him badly. Shortly after, he confronts Alice and the girls, and asks why Ned and the Kid snuck out the back window.
- Bill learns of Davey's death, and starts to take action (he sends a deputy out to Bar T). Shortly thereafter, Ned is captured and delivered to him.
- Bill whips Ned, and tells him that he is going to hurt him "bad" once he determines Ned is lying about the names of his accomplices.
- Sometime during this whipping/beating, Ned dies. We don't see this on screen, but Bill is as guilty as can be.
- While Bill is making arrangements for a posse to go in search of the Kid and Will, Will enters Greely's and shoots Bill.
- Bill doesn't die immediately, and he and Will have one final chat before Will dispatches him.
