William Munny (Clint Eastwood)’s Timeline and Summary
- Will used to be one bad outlaw, but when we meet him he's just an unsuccessful homemaker. His hogs are sick, and he's having a hard time herding them.
- The Schofield Kid asks him to accompany him to Wyoming to take out a few cowboys and collect a handsome bounty ($1,000). Will declines.
- Will changes his mind, and leaves Kansas. On his way to Wyoming, he visits his buddy Ned Logan and recruits him to go along.
- The Kid fires his rifle at Ned and Will multiple times as soon as they catch up to him. Shortly thereafter, all three join up together.
- Will and Ned have a short chat about the Kid's boasting (he says he's killed five men). Ned reminds him of a time when he killed three men at one time. Will reiterates that he's not like that anymore.
- Sometime before Big Whiskey, Will gets sick. When we see him with Ned, he's shivering, wet, and sweaty.
- Shortly thereafter, he lies to Little Bill about carrying a weapon and is severely beaten. He manages to crawl out of Greely's and get on his horse. Ned stitches him up.
- Will has a episode of delirium in which he says he has seen the Angel of Death, his dead wife, and says he is sure that he is dying. He tells Ned not to tell his children the things he's done.
- After a snowfall, Will wakes up to Delilah nursing him. They chat a little bit.
- After Ned shoots Davey's house and decides he doesn't have the heart to finish him off, Will takes his rifle and finishes the job (he misses several times first, however).
- When Ned heads back to Kansas, Will tries to convince him to stay. He tells him he'll bring him (Ned) his share of the money.
- Will provides cover for the Kid when he kills Quick Mike. Then, the Kid covers him as they beat an exit.
- While collecting the money, Will learns that Ned is dead, and the Kid learns more about Will's past history than he ever wanted to. Will takes the Kid's gun.
- The two enter Big Whiskey, and Will sends the Kid on his way before proceeding to Greely's, where he kills Skinny, Clyde, Little Bill and several others.
- Before leaving town, Will threatens anybody sitting in ambush with death. Everybody is too afraid to fire on him, and he leaves, never to be heard from again.
- The film doesn't tell us where Will ended up, but "it is rumored," it says, that Will went to San Francisco and prospered in dry goods.
