Mr. Benedict

With his green plaid suit and his wild white hair, Mr. Benedict is the kind of guy everyone wants for a grandfather. He's always there to offer advice or a bit of wisdom without ever being pushy or condescending about it (and he could be condescending if he wanted to—he's a genius, remember). Our favorite bit of Benedictine advice comes via Morse code to Reynie at the Institute when he's worried that he won't be able to resist the Whisperer. That's when Mr. B sends him the message, "Remember the white knight" (30.41).
