Greta Wegener Timeline & Summary

Greta convinces her husband, Einar, to put on a dress for a painting she is trying to complete.
He's so pretty that she calls him Lili.
He decides to live as Lili occasionally, and Greta enjoys it because Lili inspires her to paint beautiful portraits.
Greta's paintings of Lili cause her career to take off; she becomes a workaholic.
She also works to find a doctor who can help Einar transition his body to reflect his new feminine identity.
She finds a doctor in Dresden who can do a surgical procedure for Einar, enabling him to live more fully as Lily.
Back in Copenhagen, Greta and Lili divorce but still live together.
Eventually Greta's brother, Carlisle, and her new love interest, Hans, convince her to leave Lili.
When Lili goes to have her final surgery, Greta warns her against it; she thinks it's dangerous, but Lili leaves anyway.
While she is gone, Greta leaves with Hans for America. She stops painting Lili and starts to paint landscapes.
