Emir Baligant Timeline and Summary

The Emir is falsely reported dead by Ganelon after Charlemagne demands him as a hostage from Marsile.
He sails to Spain with an army just in time to aid the defeated Marsile, who promises to give him Saragossa if he triumphs over Charlemagne.
He's initially distraught to hear of Saragossa's defeat but rallies when he learns of Roland's demise.
Then he brings his army against Charlemagne.
He tells Charlemagne to beg his forgiveness for killing his son.
Finally—because this poem is bloody as all get-out, he's killed by Charlemagne in hand-to-hand combat.
