Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen)’s Timeline and Summary
- Chris arrives in Vietnam. During his first trek through the jungle, he throws up. Not a good start.
- Taylor digs a foxhole, and then goes on a night patrol. He wakes up in the middle of the night, and notices VC soldiers approaching. His gun is out of reach. He is wounded in the attack.
- After recuperating, Taylor returns to camp. O'Neill orders him, King, and Crawford to clean the latrines. Afterwards, the boys spend the night smoking pot and drinking.
- On New Year's Day, Taylor is handling point and senses something amiss. He gets Barnes' attention, and Barnes immediately knows there's a bunker right in front of them.
- Taylor finds two people hiding in an underground shelter in the nearby village. Angry about how things are going in Vietnam, he screams at the guy who emerges. He fires shots at the ground, trying to taunt him.
- He watches with disgust as Bunny kills an unarmed Vietnamese boy. Later, he prevents some of his fellow soldiers from raping a little girl. He's spit on as a result.
- Later, when the platoon goes back into the bunker complex, Taylor hits the deck. He throws a grenade and kills an enemy soldier, and then carries Lerner out.
- He goes back into the jungle with Elias as part of a special flanking plan. He eliminates some enemy soldiers, but then helps carry out a severely wounded Crawford.
- Sensing something is up, he goes back into the jungle looking for Elias and runs into Barnes, who tells Elias is dead. Taylor senses something, and soon determines for himself that Barnes killed Elias.
- He shares his thoughts with Rhah and King before attacking Barnes back at camp. He slams Barnes' head into a post numerous times before he's pulled away. Barnes cuts him just below the eye.
- Taylor confesses his frustrations to King: guys like Barnes continue to make up the rules as they go along
- During the final firefight, Taylor is able to get out of his foxhole before NVA troops blow it up. Later, he encounters Barnes and is almost killed.
- Taylor wakes up after the aerial bombardment and kills Barnes. He is wounded, and taken away on a chopper.
