Gil tries to teach Jun Do some Japanese in the moments before their first practice kidnapping in Japan.
Gil tells Jun Do that his first job was mapping landmines—without a metal detector.
Gil leaves Jun Do to fend for himself when he comes up against a man with a dog.
Gil and Jun Do attempt to kidnap a young woman, but she dies when they push her into the ocean. Gil fails to translate her final words: "I can't swim."
Gil answers Mayumi's phone when it rings; Jun Do grabs it and throws it into the ocean.
Gil and Jun Do move around Niigata, shopping for supplies and drinking at a bar. Gil flirts with the bartender.
