McMurphy might not be the best person in the world, but when it comes to rebelling against the cruel and disempowering world of the mental hospital, he's our main man. He's the only one with the courage to tell Nurse Ratched where to go and to take the other patients on a crazy joyride. His presence throws the entire mental hospital into chaos, and that's exactly why Nurse Ratched wants to crush him and make him into another one of her obedient patients. And in the end, she sadly succeeds.
