Many people, both readers and scholars, think that the poems Wordsworth wrote early in his career, around the turn of the nineteenth century, were his best. He lived until 1850 but largely stopped writing poetry after 1835. (Source)
Wordsworth’s longest and – maybe – most important poem was an autobiographical work called "The Prelude." It wasn’t published until after his death. Many Americans don’t read "The Prelude" because it’s so long, but pretty much everyone in Wordsworth’s country of England knows about it. (Source)
