- In the front yard, Nick is convincing his friend Tommy to mow the yard for him, Tom Sawyer-style. But how? By showing off his fancy new remote control lawn mower.
- Tommy agrees, but says that he'll do it later.
- Meanwhile, Big Russ is gathering supplies for the fishing trip. Ron wants him to play baseball with him but dad refuses, as does Little Russ.
- Ron wanders over to the fence and watches Nick clean up the yard, talking mad trash in the process. He calls Nick a "worm."
- Meanwhile, Amy is listening to some music while she cleans the kitchen. Little Russ watches her through the window and gets all googly-eyed.
- Big Russ interrupts this to show Little Russ some weights and talk about his own high school football exploits (though he proves himself utterly incapable of lifting the weight himself).
- Then Mr. Thompson goes outside to smoke a cigarette. His wife stops him before he lights up, however, much to his chagrin.
- While Little Russ pumps iron, Ron swings at a baseball. He connects and the ball blasts straight through the Szalinskis' upstairs window, crashing right into Mr. Szalinski's prized shrink gun.
- Seeing this, Little Russ grabs Ron and drags him next door to come clean.
- As they do, the machine starts to activate, shooting blasts around the room. Everything it hits disappears.
- Little Russ becomes tongue-tied as soon as Amy opens the door. He finally regains enough composure to force Ron to admit his mistake and promise to pay for the window with his allowance money. He and Nick go upstairs to find the ball.
- Now alone with his crush, Russ foolishly alludes to having watched her dance. Bad move, bro.
- The two kids enter the lab and get instantly blasted by the laser. We're going to assume that they just died. Roll credits?
- Elsewhere, Wayne is presenting his shrink ray to a group of businesspeople and talking about its business applications. It's an utter failure.
- Back at the house, Amy and Russ go upstairs to check on their little brothers. It takes about two seconds for them to get blasted too.
- Fortunately, nobody's getting killed—they're just getting shrunk. That's kind of good news, though, because it means that the machine actually works.
- Amy and Russ look around the room with amazement. Nick and Ron rush over to meet their newly shrunken siblings.
- As if on cue, Wayne arrives and shouts for the kids. No response. He heads upstairs and enters the lab.
- The kids shout for our resident mad scientist's attention, but their voices are so tiny that he can't hear them.
- Adorable. And scary.
- He goes to sit on the couch and realizes that it's missing. Huh? His fall feels like an earthquake to the mini-kids.
- Wayne notices the broken window and starts freaking out. In his anger, he starts smashing the shrink ray to bits, which seems like a bad move given the circumstances.
- He uses broom to sweep up the mess. The kids desperately try to escape its brutal bristles but fail, ending up in the dust pan and then the trash. What a day, right?
- Wayne throws the bag by the curb. Luckily, the kids manage to tear a hole through the wall of their plastic prison.
