Character Role Analysis

Ferris Bueller

Sure, it's Ferris who initiates the day off, but he states at the start that he's not doing it for himself: Ferris wants to break Cameron out of his anxiety bubble, and he believes showing his friend around Chicago on a sunny spring day is just the way to do it. Ferris models confidence for Cameron—he's charming, sly, and not afraid to take what he wants. Cameron proclaims, "Ferris can do anything," and Ferris spends the movie trying to show Cameron that he can, too.
