John Keating

From the very beginning, Mr. Keating inspires devotion in his students.

When he instructs the boys to rip out the first few pages of their textbook, Neil immediately responds with glee, and even, maybe, relief. The others, though puzzled, also get a-ripping.

His later classes involve personal expression and thought, which inspire the boys to examine their inner lives and make the most of their days. He tells them to leave their mark on the world, and to carpe the dang diem. And he inspires the DPS, which changes their lives forever.
