If you're coming here from somewhere else, and you have a vehicle that was registered in another state, you'll need to get it registered here immediately upon obtaining residency. 

To register an out-of-state vehicle in Minnesota, you'll need:

1. a completed and signed Application for Title and Application for Registration.
2. out-of-state title or registration card.
3. proof of insurance.
4. proof of address and identity.
5. whatever DVS fees are required.

Get all of that taken care of and you're officially a Minnesota driver. Good luck out there—you're going to need it.
