Assuming the roads are safe and clear, how fast can you legally go? Well, it depends on where you are. In a posted school zone, the speed limit is usually lower than the surrounding area. In off-street parking facilities, the speed limit is 15mph. In residential districts, the speed limit is 35mph. Specific sections of highway might have a speed limit of 65mph, but most other areas, including urban interstate highways and open highways not otherwise posted, have a speed limit of 55mph.
